I'm swimming!

We filled up the pool today and G splashed around with Dora and Boots for a while. The water was so cold that her teeth were chattering but she refused to get out!

Busy Weekend

We had a busier than usual weekend but, of course, I did not get any photos of Georgia! Friday night, we went to Kings Island for Brian's company's picnic. G was not too interested in getting on many rides but seemed to enjoy getting out of the stroller to walk around the park. We watched a parade and she waved to Dora and Boots.

Today we celebrated my father's 70th birthday at Karen's house. Many of our relatives from my mother's family and some from my father's family came to wish him well. After the party, Georgia's Uncle Matt and her cousin Andrew came to town to go to the Reds/Cubs game with Brian, Bob and Matt's friend Sean. Here is a photo of Matt & Andrew at the game.

Although we enjoyed the events of the weekend, we are looking forward to a relaxing day at home tomorrow!

'Tis the Season for Ice Cream!!!

Tonight we dusted off the ice cream maker and whipped up our first batch of the season. Here are some pictures of G enjoying a bowl of cookies & cream.

Dandelion

This is a picture of G on her grandparents’ patio a couple of weeks ago.

Zoo

We went to the zoo a couple of weekends ago and here is a photo of G enjoying the tulips. She insisted on walking around the zoo instead of riding in the stroller.

Tumbling class

This afternoon, Georgia and I met Stacy, Carter and Riley for an hour of tumbling and gymnastics. Georgia had a ball, except for an incident involving the rainbow parachute. (She ran underneath it, realized I was not with her, and was not very happy!) She really enjoyed jumping on the trampolines. Here is a photo as she and Carter jumped together. (As you can see, G's new summer shirts are already a little too small!)

Go Play Cafe

Recently, we joined the Burgoons and friends to celebrate Carter's 2nd birthday at the Go Play Cafe (http://www.goplaycafe.biz) in Mason. The kids had a great time and Brian got a workout as he followed Georgia through the tunnels and tubes!

Fashionista!!

Brian took Georgia upstairs to change her diaper and this is what she insisted on wearing instead of her pants.

New Bathing Suit

Georgia's friend Riley gave her a bathing suit that she outgrew and G insisted that she wear it one morning last week. Looks like it might fit her this summer - it is a 4T!!

Thanks, Riley!!

Georgia has the sniffles and decided to take a nap on the couch today.

Just a cute picture

Karen asked if we had any pictures of Georgia reading books (for a photo contest at a bookstore in Wilmington). We did not have any so I took this one last week.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Georgia!

We celebrated Georgia's 2nd birthday this past Saturday and had a great time. Thanks to all who shared the evening with us!

Extra-special thanks to Tante Karen for hosting so graciously and cooking a delicious dinner!! Georgia enjoyed your "yummy" lasagna and garlic bread!

Basket Case

Stacy and I attended a basket weaving class last night (and the previous Wednesday). Here is my end result. It is far from perfect, but I had a good time with Stacy and managed to finish the basket without throwing it across the room, which is quite an accomplishment for me. Stacy weaved some blue throughout her basket and it looks really pretty.

Helmet Head

Georgia received a bike helmet from her Aunt Kathy and Uncle Danny last week. Here she is trying it on.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Georgia! (Early)

Georgia received an early birthday present from us this weekend - a tricycle! She is still figuring out how it works, but all of her stuffed animals/toys/dolls have taken it for a spin! It is a pretty sweet bike with streamers and a bell! All we need now is a basket for Elmo (and a helmet, of course) and she will be ready to roll!

Georgia with Tante and Nicolas

Saturday night we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Urban's house for dinner. Karen's Godchild, Nicolas (5 years old), was visiting from Cleveland for the weekend. Georgia loved playing with Nicolas and Tante Karen!

Fashion Show

It may be cold outside, but Georgia is getting ready for spring. She wore her spring dresses and danced her way down the runway (our bed) in style!

Good Morning, Georgia!

Georgia has decided that she no longer likes her footie pajamas so she takes them off sometime after going to bed and getting up the next morning. This photo is of her reaction when I went to get her up on Tuesday morning.

Hello, Old Friend!!

On Saturday, we took Georgia to a children's bookstore in Oakely (http://www.bluemanateebooks.com/) so she could meet Corduroy, the bear from the popular children's book. It took her a few minutes to warm up to him, but, as you can see from the photo, she was happy to give him a big hug!

Happy New Year!!

We hope you had a safe and happy new years celebration. We spent the evening at home relaxing after a fun afternoon in Columbus with Brian’s parents and brother. Predictably, Georgia snoozed her way into 2006!

Perhaps inspired by the Buckeyes' big win last night (G-o-o-o-o-o-o-o Bucks!!), I decided to actually cook Georgia’s lunch, instead of simply assembling her usual PB&J or grilled cheese sandwiches! I made homemade macaroni and cheese; she is really doing well using a fork and spoon! Here are some photos of her enjoying her lunch. Imagine her saying, “Mmm…yummy!”

Speaking of the Buckeyes' win, we went down to the Burgoon's house to watch the game and eat lots of great food (never a shortage of that at Stacy's parties! Yum!). Stacy has posted a couple photos from the party. Take a look! Her blog is always worth looking at because her kids at so sweet! http://burgoonfamily.blogspot.com/

"It's a puppy!!"

Tante Karen is dog-sitting over her holiday break and came over with her charge - Parker. Parker is a black lab/Australian shepherd mix. Auntie Kathy and Uncle Danny also brought over her old pal Buddy. Georgia pointed at both dogs and said, over and over, "It's a puppy!"

Well, Christmas is over and Georgia had a great time! Thanks to everyone for the generous gifts and good times. Here is a Christmas Day photo of G with her Supernana.

Tea time!!

Georgia received a tea set from the Burgoons and she loves it! Here she is having a party.

Introducing Clementine & Zeke!!

Georgia's Christmas gift arrived early in the form of 2 goldfish named Clementine (white with some orange around her face) and Zeke (mostly orange with some white and black spots). She LOVES them already! Merry Christmas!!

More Poster News

Here is a picture from the Art of Musical Maintenence Show in Portland that is featuring four of Brian's pieces. They are circled. Brian's work is featured between two Portland poster artists, Guy Burwell and Mike King. Mike King has been designing and silkscreening posters for almost 20 years. Pretty good company to be in.

New Poster

Brian entered another poster contest today. The purpose of the poster is to promote a concert for the very popular band Queens of the Stone Age. The theme is based on a song called Monster in the Parasol. He designed and drew it in 12 hours because it had to be submitted by noon!

Saturday at the Zoo and Brian's next event

We went to the Cincinnati zoo last night with the Burgoons. Lots of fun - here is a photo.

Brian is involved in another event this weekend (Dec. 3) at the Southgate House in Newport - the Indie Media Fest. Brian helped organize the art component and is among the artists displaying their work at the event. Here is the poster that Brian designed for the event:

Georgia is working on a new play…

You’ve probably heard of the play A Raisin in the Sun. Well, Georgia is apparently working on a toddler version, tentatively titled A Raisin in the Nose. Yesterday, she stuck a raisin up her nose. Fortunately, it fell out before I had to extract it with tweezers.

We are looking forward to the Thanksgiving weekend. Thursday, we will travel up to Columbus to spend the day with Brian’s family. Friday, we will have brunch with my family. We might even meet up with the Burgoon family at the zoo on Friday night for the Holiday in Lights event. Georgia LOVED all of the Halloween decorations when we went trick-or-treating in KY, so I think she will really enjoy the Christmas displays this year.

News about Brian

Brian was invited to participate in a poster show in Portland, OR beginning in December and running through part of January. He has 4 pieces in the show. (This one is NOT one that he drew - rather, it is the poster advertisement for the upcoming event. You can't read it, but his name is on that marquee!)

If you plan to travel to Portland in December or January, stop by and check it out!

Blocks

G built a tower tonight using all 10 of her blocks. After accepting our kudos and clapping for herself, she looked at the tower and said, “cool.” Of course, she then knocked it down and started building all over again.

Punk Farm

Georgia's latest favorite book is called Punk Farm. Here is the Amazon.com synopsis:

At the end of a long day, Farmer Joe heads for bed. Back in the barn, a band of his animals prepare to rehearse for their rock concert later that night. Cow and Chicken set up drums and keyboard, while Pig and Goat tune their guitar and bass and vocalist Sheep tests the mike. At the performance, they play their version of "Old MacDonald Had a Farm," with riffs on their instruments instead of the usual animal sounds. Their frantic fans go wild.

As the pictures show, Brian gives quite an engaging performance!

Poster Contest

Hello! Yesterday we drove up to Columbus to submit Brian's entry in the CD101 Poster Calendar Contest. He spent a lot of time working on it and is really pleased with the end result. The top 20 will be chosen by radio station staff, then the public will get to vote for the top three. Hopefully, you can check it out in person (and cast your vote for it) this weekend at the Gallery Hop in the Short North. Here is a photo of it - you can click on it for a larger view.

Here is a new photo of G - given her scarlet and gray outfit, we are betting that she is praying for a Buckeyes win on Saturday!
