Thanksgiving Weekend

We hope your holiday weekend was restful. Brian took the entire week off of work so we had some extended family time. (I think all three of us are ready to get back to normal on Monday!)

We spent the pre-Thanksgiving Sunday afternoon with Grandma, Grandpa, Tante, Aunt Donna, Uncle Phil and cousin Joy. Monday night we went to see Tony and Tante's house for the first time. They treated us to a great evening and a delicious meal in their beautiful home.

On Thanksgiving Day, we went up to Columbus for a great day with Granddad, Supernana, Uncle Matt and dogs Isabelle and Buddy, Bob and Carol's new greyhound. We also visited with Jeff, Katie and their new baby, Sydney, who is 2 months old and adorable!

We avoided stores and shopping on Friday, but did manage to put up our (sad little pre-lit artificial) Christmas tree after G went to bed. Saturday morning, she came downstairs and saw the tree for the first time. Her eyes widened and she said, "Oh, it's bootiful!" She loves the ornaments - I think most of them are no longer on the tree! Everything is "Christmas" to her - Santa, the tree, lights, etc.

Sunday

Yesterday we went over to Grandma and Grandpa's house after church. Tante Karen was there, as well, so we were able to spend time with her. We attempted to get a happy family photo but this was the best we could do. (Not really, but it is the funniest.)

Saturday

On Saturday we went to the Loveland Bike Trail and took a walk. Georgia played at the park, as well. http://www.lovelandbiketrail.com/

The Art of Musical Maintenance

Once again, Brian's work will be featured in The Art of Musical Maintenance poster exhibition in Portland, OR. Here is a link to the event's web page and to a display of his (and others') works on display. You can scroll down the page to see the work that Brian chose to submit for display and sale. http://thegoodfoot.com/amm3/posterlog.php

Happy Halloween?

Not so happy for us since we were all sick yesterday! We had to skip Trick-or-Treat, so no cute photos of G in her flower costume. But you can check Stacy's blog for photos of her three kids in costume.

Bridezilla?

Stacy's girls outgrew this playdress and Georgia loves it. Looks like she is practicing to be Bridezilla someday.

Happy Fall!!

We are gearing up for Halloween and the chill of winter. Brian has already started shrink-wrapping the apartment windows in his efforts to save heat. Last weekend we visited Aunt Kathy in Columbus and had a great time. Saturday night, we met the Burgoons and friends at the Cincinnati Zoo. All of the kids came in costume - lots of Spidermen this year, I think - and had a good time. These are the best I could do for photos of G in her Halloween costume. (She's become quite the diva when she sees the camera. Her typical response..."No pictures!")

I forgot to mention that the Burgoons adopted a dog this weekend! He is adorable! Check out their page for some photos.

Franklin Park Conservatory

This past Saturday, we went to Columbus and met Granddad and Nana at the Franklin Park Conservatory to see the Dale Chihuly blown glass collection. Georgia walked around the whole thing and really seemed to enjoy herself. Here are some photos of the amazing glass sculptures.

After lunch, we went to Granddad and Nana's house to spend some time with Uncle Matt and Isabelle ("Isabeth" to Georgia) and met their new greyhound, Buddy. Buddy is still getting used to his new home and was a bit nervous around a somewhat rowdy and excited Georgia. We returned home with lots of new toys, courtesy of Uncle Matt. Here is a photo of Georgia enjoying her new desk last night.

Have a great week!

Giddy-up!

Ever since we attended Riley’s birthday party at the farm, Georgia has been in love with horses. This weekend, we bought her a set of horses and she loves them! She’s decided that they are a family, with a Mommy, Daddy and 4 babies. (She even took one to the Burgoon’s house this weekend and left it there. Fortunately, Riley is there to watch over it until we can retrieve it.)

"Oh! It's beautiful!"

**Sorry it has been a while since we updated. We made some changes to our computer set up and uploading photos is a bit more challenging than it used to be.**

School is going very well! Georgia quickly adapted to the new schedule and really enjoys going to school. Last week, she made a red collage (red is the color of the month) and I hung it on the refrigerator. When she saw it later that day, she said, "Oh! It's beautiful!" When I picked her up on Monday, she was standing in front of the full-length mirror, smiling at and talking to herself.

A few weekends ago, we went up to Columbus to spend some time with Granddad and Nana. We went to a park with a sandbox and Georgia spent most of her time there, digging intently. Granddad and Nana also treated G to an indoor Dora house, which she loves. It is BIG, as you can probably see.

First Day of School!!

Georgia’s first day of preschool went very well. When Brian got her up and dressed her, he reminded her that she would be going to school. She said, “That’s right. Mrs. Bruce.” (Mrs. Bruce is her teacher.) She was a bit confused and upset when we said goodbye and left her on the playground with her classmates, but she ended up having a great day. She was excited to see us when we picked her up but she certainly did not want to leave! We go back on Friday for day 2. Brian and I think she is really going to love school!!

Stacy sent us this photo from the party. As you can see, Georgia got right in there with the older kids to help groom the horse.

Tomorrow/Monday is Georgia's first day of preschool! Check back tomorrow for some photos of her big day!! Also, take a look at Stacy's blog: http://burgoonfamily.blogspot.com/

Horses Horses Horses!!!

We just got home from Riley's 5th birthday party at the horse farm. Georgia had a GREAT time! She loved Ms. Barb, one of the owners who also facilitated the party. (She is the woman on the right in this photo.) Georgia sat on a horse, but did not want to ride it. (We are surprised that she even sat on the horse so that was something!) We all had a great time and appreciate Riley inviting us to celebrate her special day with her.

Brian is watching the OSU football game as I type this - the Buckeyes have just scored their first TD. Go Bucks!!

Go Bucks!!! Beat Texas!!

Georgia is getting ready for the Buckeyes’ big game against Texas on Saturday (even though she will be in bed for all but the first 15 minutes of it!). GOOOOOOO BUCKS!!!!

Before the game, we will attend Riley’s 5th birthday party at a horse farm in KY. She will have the opportunity to pet and feed horses, as well as take a hayride with Daddy and the other children at the party. Check back over the weekend for some new photos.

A couple of weeks ago, Georgia and I dropped Brian off at work and spent a day in Columbus visiting our friend Kelly, who was in town from Boston. Kelly was in Columbus to visit with her new nephew – Joshua – who was about a month old and completely adorable! It had been a long 2 years since we saw Kelly and it was a great day. After going out to lunch, we spent the afternoon at the pool in Kelly’s brother’s development then went for ice cream before G & I headed home.

That Saturday, the three of us headed back up to Columbus. After seeing Matt’s new office, we went to lunch with Bob, Carol and Matt. After lunch, we drove over to Dublin to attend a baby shower for our friends, Jeff & Katie. They are expecting their first baby at the end of September. We saw their brand new house for the first time and it is beautiful. G especially enjoyed the open space of the rooms they have not yet furnished! The baby’s nursery is adorable; Katie’s mother, a talented quilter, sewed the sock monkey-themed crib bedding. Not surprisingly, they received LOTS of great Ohio State-themed gifts!

This past weekend, Brian’s parents met us at a local spray-ground and spent some time running around with Georgia. Georgia had a great time with her Granddad and Supernana.

Here are some new photos of Georgia. In one, she is wearing a t-shirt that her Uncle Matt bought for her at Lollapalooza, a music festival he attended in Chicago earlier this month. The other is a photo of her at home yesterday, hamming it up for the camera while she played with her dinosaurs in the dollhouse.

School Days

Georgia will be starting pre-school in September and we are getting ready! Today we received a letter from her teacher, Mrs. Bruce, and we have already been given our first assignment – to tape/glue a photo of Georgia to a piece of paper and write about her family and some of her favorite things. No doubt that "ice cweam" will be one of those favorite things! Tonight we found her a little backpack and she loves wearing it!
