Crossing the Headboard Project of My List

Over the weekend, I told Brian that all I wanted for Christmas
was for us to finish making a headboard for our bed. He didn't take
my not-so-subtle hint so I did it myself this afternoon.
Although the rest of the room is definitely a work-in-progress,
I love how the headboard looks!!

I guess Brian is going to have to go to Plan B for
my Christmas gift this year!

First Snow of Winter 2009-2010

And Tucker's first snow EVER!! I think he would say "it's delicious!"

Our neighbors to the left (in the photo) warned us that they go bananas at Christmastime with decorations. He has been working on making 4-feet tall wooden letters to spell out (and illuminate) their 2 grandsons' names. You can see "Drew" in the front yard.

That's not embarrassing at all for a 12 year old, is it?

Family First Saturday at the Art Museum

Today we went to the art museum for Family First Saturday Holiday Extravaganza. They had lots of crafts and we did every one of them! Before we left, Georgia asked if she could "add details" to her jeans. We found a pair with some worn knees, gave her the fabric markers and let her go to town. She was very excited and proud of her creation.

Decking the Halls

Kindly ignore our dirty windows as you admire the wreath that Georgia and I just made using some 12-gauge floral wire and 2 boxes of ornaments from Ikea. It cost me all of $12 and about 15 minutes for some holiday sparkle.

I was inspired to simplify a project originally posted by a very popular blogger, Eddie Ross. He utilized a wire hanger, hot glue + gun and mulitcolored ornaments. I fortunately (by dumb luck, to be honest) chose ornaments that did not require gluing. And I do not use wire hangers so I purchased floral wire and wrapped it around a large bowl to approximate a circle. My wire, though, was mre flexible than that of a wire hanger, so the shape is not as firm as it could be.

I highly recommended this simple project, especially with the ornaments that did not require the use of a glue gun (which I do not own). With a little help from G, I completed this project in about 15 minutes. I still want to find a pretty bow to cover the unsightly wire hanger that I managed to rig up in my hast to take the photo.

Here are the original instructions from Eddie Ross:

Parents' Day at School

Today was Parents Day at Georgia's school. After a welcome reception and greeting from Mr. Hollander, we went to her classroom where the children introduced their guests then sang a few songs for us. Afterward, we went to the library to make a book then back to the classroom to share another book they'd made as well as collect some artwork. Georgia was also excited to play waitress for us with the cookies and hot cider. We ended the day with the kids in the gym, watching a comedian/juggler/magician/puppeteer.

Ballet: Parent Observation

Brian and I observered Georgia's ballet class tonight. Very fun.
She is as enthusiastic as you would imagine.

These photos are from Brian's cell phone. The ballet had told us that you weren't allowed to take pictures so we didn't take the camera. However, several parents had cameras and there was no problem. We will have to settle for these and the memories.

Tucker = Soccer Star

Friday Afternoon

Kindergarten Photo

We will share professional copies from the package but if you would like a larger photo than what we have chosen for you, please let me know and I can direct you to the photographer's site so you can order that. We will have wallets, as well, if you would like one of those. (We aren't sure what to do with those. Sort of silly for kindergarten!)
