"My fam-i-ly is so great!"

That is what Georgia said last night when asked if she'd had fun that afternoon.

Yesterday we went up to Columbus for Ohio State's spring football game (Scarlet vs. Gray) with Granddad, Supernana, Matt and Andrew. Georgia and I were planning to separate from everyone after lunch; however, they'd bought an extra ticket so G & I went along to the game. We had a great time. From W-A-A-A-A-A-Y up in C-Deck, we watched Gray defeat Scarlet 17-9. Georgia seemed to have a great time at her first Buckeye game, although she did not enjoy the noise level. When fans cheered too loudly, she'd cover her ears. You can't really blame her - 75,000+ fans can make a lot of noise, even for a scrimmage.

Random photos from the past week

(Despite what it looks like in these photos, the red spots on G's face are indeed getting better with the new medication.)

Risky Business?

Brian picked up his new glasses tonight. He jumped into a time machine and shot back to 1983 to get a pair of RayBans. Lookin' good!

Easter Kitty

We spent Easter Sunday with Granddad, Supernana, and Matt, who brought Georgia the best gift ever - Mo the cat. Mo will be staying with us for a while and Georgia could not be more excited. She has had trouble getting some quality time with Mo - G's excitement seems to overwhelm Mo, who quickly found a hiding place under a corner table between a chair and the couch, a spot where no one can see her. They play twisted game of cat & mouse, with Georgia as the cat and Mo as the mouse.

Quotes from Georgia

"Mommy, I'm a man." She'd spread a fruit snack across her upper lip.

"When I grown up, I want to be
just like my daddy."
Don't say she didn't warn you.

Thanks, Uncle Matt!

Last night, Matt was in town for a work appointment so he stopped by to spend sometime with Georgia. He brought her birthday present - a 48 piece floor puzzle featuring Dora the Explorer. After he left, Georgia worked on the puzzle and she managed to piece it together with little direction or help from us. It's pretty exciting to see how her mind works while she is working on something like a puzzle. There were only a few times when she'd sigh and say, "oooooh, I can't do it" as she stomped off with her arms folded. Each time, she'd return to the puzzle and try again. Thanks to Uncle Matt for the great present and, more importantly, for stopping by to say hello and play with Georgia.

Happy Birthday, Georgia!

Today we celebrated Georgia's third birthday. Thanks to Tante and Tony for helping us host the party at their home in Wilmington. We had a great day! Granddad & Nana and Grandma & Grandpa all made the trip to wish Georgia a happy birthday. She received many wonderful gifts, including summer clothes, balloons, a Dora magna-doodle, books and some Littlest Petshop toys. Tante also gave her the cowboy gear (hat, boots and puppet) that you see in the pictures. Giddy-up!
Tomorrow Georgia will take cupcakes to school to celebrate with her friends and teachers.

First Happy Meal and Playplace

Yesterday we met Stacy's clan, as well as her friends/families Debra/Colin and Julie/Casey, at a McDonald's in NOKY. Stacy wanted to celebrate Georgia's birthday and suspected that she would love the playplace. She was correct! Georgia had a GREAT time! Stacy observed that Georgia does not walk; rather, she bounces like Tigger. That was certainly the case at the playplace.
Thanks, Stacy! We both had a great time!

Little Cupcake

Georgia had a pre-birthday treat tonight
and she REALLY enjoyed it!
PS: We spent some time at the zoo yesterday with Stacy & Carter and her friend Debra and her son Colin. Stacy's posted a few photos from the day. Check out her blog at http://burgoonfamily.blogspot.com/.

Happy Birthday, Tante and Aunt Kathy!!

This afternoon, we celebrated Tante and Kathy's birthdays over at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Aunt Donna and Uncle Phil joined us for lunch and birthday cake (chocolate cake with chocolate frosting = YUM-O!). After lunch, we received special gifts from our Aunt Joann in Alaska. A talented and prolific quilter, Joann decided to dig into her quilt stash and sent each of her nieces a quilt. Here are some photos, courtesy of Tante (aka The Birthday Girl).

The quilts are so beautiful!
THANKS SO MUCH, AUNT JOANN!!

March already??

February seemed to draaaag at the beginning but, boy, did it end quickly! I guess that is the lot of the shortest month of the year. Well, here is a photo of G today. Nothing special happening but she was willing to sit and actually smile for a photo, which is rare these days!

Fun at COSI with Aunt Kathy

Thursday we met Aunt Kathy in Columbus and spent a fun day at COSI. As we drove out of the parking lot to head home, Georgia said, "That was fun with Kathy."

Valentines

Today we dropped off G's valentines at school. Unfortunately, she will miss the party (she doesn't go to school the days of the parties). It's ok, though - she had 2 Christmas parties! This is what her valentines look like. I figured soon enough she will want the store-bought cards so I might as well be crafty while I still can! The other photo is from today after we came home from school. She worked on a valentine for Big Daddy and really enjoyed gluing the hearts down to constuction paper. Who knew that a glue stick was so entertaining?

Now that's progress!!

G is officially sleeping in her bed! She has gone to sleep (for both naps and nighttime) with virtually zero problems since being moved from the crib to the bed.
In additon, today we have been working on going to the potty and she making very excellent progress! She's been running around all day in a t-shirt and nothing else - that means no diaper! - and has only had 1 accident earlier this morning. Since then, we have had 2 poo-poos and 1 pee pee. Good stuff! Curious George fruit snacks and giant marshmellows seem to be great motivators!

A Big Day For Our Family!!

Update: So far, so good! G went to bed as usual with no problems. She is growing up so fast!

This is a very important day for Georgia – not only did she pee pee in the potty this morning, but she is sleeping in a big-girl bed all by herself for the very first time! Earlier this week, she climbed out of her crib (another first) so we decided it was the right time. Brian spent the morning taking down the crib and reorganizing the room. G is napping right now and went down quite easily. We will see tonight when it is time for bed!

New Quilt

I just finished a new quilt for G. It's smaller than I had originally intended (a bit less than 50-inches squared) but I love the colors in the fabrics. The back is a piece of cotton chenille (which was a true challenge for me! Very slippery!) so it is soft and cozy. Here is a picture of G being her diva self while using it this afternoon. "No pictures!"

*The bottom photo is hazy because the camera was covered in fingerprints. The 1st photo is a more accurate picture of the quilt.

Snowday!

We had a snowday yesterday! We woke up and there was actual snow on the ground. Brian cleared the walk and Georgia played in it for the first time this season. She was quite the little polar bear, throwing herself in the snow with verve! She was quite unhappy when we brought her inside, crying, "I need my snow!"
