Want s'more?

Today I made cookies for Georgia's Daisy Petals
meeting on Wednesday.  They are delicious!
Well worth the little extra effort that goes into them.

Check back later this week for photos of
Georgia with her Daisy Petals vest.
She should be outfitted with a few patches very soon!

Georgia's Winter Slideshow

Today I built a snow family and took pictures!  It's a picture of my family.  I don't know how to make a snowdog so Tucker isn't in the pictures.  I took pictures of the icicles outside on people's houses.  And also, I put buttons on and if you look very carefully, the middle one has no eyes!  They fell off.  I took a picture of the lightpole outside.  And cars.  And houses.  I hope you enjoy the slideshow.

Love,
Georgia

Animalia

Today we went to see a puppet show called Animalia, part of the
Playhouse in the Park's Next Generation Family Series.
It was absolutely fantastic.
This video does not do it justice but you
get an idea of what it was all about.

We plan to attend more shows in the Next Generation season, including The Stinky Cheese Man.

Daddy-Daughter Dance

Brian and Georgia just left for a special night - dinner and the Daddy-Daughter Dance at the elementary school.

Georgia feels so fancy in her Valentine's Day appropriate red dress and was careful to choose a coordinating red tie for Brian.  He surprised her with a wrist corsage, which she adores and can barely stop admiring - she said, very quietly, "Oh, Dad."  It was all very sweet to see.  I know she feels so special and that is the entire point of the evening.  I am excited to hear about it when they get home.

They will receive 2 photos from the dance so we will post those later, as well.

Snow Day Crafts

Thanks to Tante's second Snow Day Gift Box, Georgia was occupied for most of the day.  This was a Martha Stewart Crafts kit to make a balloon barnyard.  Very cute!

Another Real Conversation with Georgia

G: But I NEED to watch TV!

P: You need to, huh?  I wonder what will happen to you since you won't be watching any.

G: (pause) I will destroy you.

Real Cconversation with Georgia

P: Georgia, you look so tall today.
G: Thanks...I hope I'm a tall lady.
P: Why?
G: So I can reach pineapples for my children.

Happy Groundhog's Day!

Georgia worked on this up in her room yesterday after school.

New 'do

Long hair isn't really my thing. I never had it and I don't know
how to do anything with it. Georgia's bun closely resembles
a rat's nest every Thursday for ballet.
Still, she seemed happy yesterday morning when I was
able to give her these 2 slightly off-center
and wopperjawed* ponytails for school.

*wopperjawed is her new favorite word...

Movie Night!

Georgia borrowed the Ratatouille movie cookbook from the library and we tonight we made Remy's Mac & Cheese for dinner. Georgia was really excited to help and did a great job.
Bon appetite!

Daisy Petals

Georgia has joined the local Daisy Petals* group. She is very, very, very excited. We went to the first meeting tonight at the leader's home down the street. The leader is the mother of one of her classmates. The group is small, just 5 girls, and it sounds like there will be a lot of crafts and snacks - 2 of Georgia's favorite things!
*Daisy Petals, I believe, has replaced Brownies as the first step toward becoming a Girl Scout.

Sunday Project

I finished this project tonight. I bought the pattern at Sew to Speak when we met the Burgoon family at COSI for Christmas.

I was a little nervous about trying something like this because the structured nature of it made it seem a little too difficult for me but I decided to give it a try. I made a few mistakes - the flap is flipped the wrong way, the strap is my own design because the green chenile fabric on the original strap ripped , and I did not use the proper form of interfacing, making the bag less structured than it should be - but overall I am pleased with it.
I've definitely learned from my mistakes and will make some changes when I make it again.
