Snowday!

We had a snowday yesterday! We woke up and there was actual snow on the ground. Brian cleared the walk and Georgia played in it for the first time this season. She was quite the little polar bear, throwing herself in the snow with verve! She was quite unhappy when we brought her inside, crying, "I need my snow!"

Happy New Year (almost)!!
Happy Holidays!
I just realized that I forgot to post photos from Christmas morning. We had a great morning. Georgia was very excited to open and then play with her gifts. I think her favorite part was the stocking, which we did last because Brian and I nearly forgot about it! She loves her Dora, Boots and Swiper figures, which were in her stocking. She also enjoys the Little People preschool, especially the playground parts of it.
On the Saturday before Christmas, we hosted Granddad, Nana and Matt for brunch and had a great time. Georgia received and watched How The Grinch Stole Christmas, a treat since it was pre-empted by another program this year. Later on Christmas Day, we went over to Aunt Donna's house for Christmas with the extended family. On Tuesday, we went up to Wilmington where Tante and Tony hosted a lunch (jambalaya...yum!) and some more gift-giving. Along with the three of us, Tante & Tony, Grandma & Grandpa, Aunt Kathy, Uncle Danny & Buddy, we celebrated with Tony's parents, Patty & Truman. It was a fun day that capped off a great (but busy) holiday weekend. We all really enjoyed the weekend and were amazed by the generosity of our families. Thank you!!Wednesday, December 20, 2006

Santa is a Rock Star
Earlier today, we met the Burgoons and friends at the zoo's Festival of Lights. After a short and only slightly challenging wait in line, Georgia met the big man in person. Her first encounter with Santa was a good one, with no tears or trepidation. This is how their conversation transpired:Santa: What do you want for Christmas?
Georgia: Presents.

I made this!

This is a felted wool blanket that I worked on this afternoon and it is nearly finished. Last week, I bought seven wool sweaters at the Goodwill (plus one from Brian) and felted them by washing them in very hot water. The blanket is made of 81 squares (6-inches). It is far from perfect but I really do love it. I just need to figure out how to finish the edges. I may just hem it but I do have some extra wool from the sleeves that I could use.
I used this as a guide for the whole project:

Toot Toot! (Our own horn)
A congratulations to us - on Friday, we made the final payment on the Corolla! Now we are keeping our fingers crossed that it lasts FOREVER!
Thanksgiving Weekend
We hope your holiday weekend was restful. Brian took the entire week off of work so we had some extended family time. (I think all three of us are ready to get back to normal on Monday!)
We spent the pre-Thanksgiving Sunday afternoon with Grandma, Grandpa, Tante, Aunt Donna, Uncle Phil and cousin Joy. Monday night we went to see Tony and Tante's house for the first time. They treated us to a great evening and a delicious meal in their beautiful home.
On Thanksgiving Day, we went up to Columbus for a great day with Granddad, Supernana, Uncle Matt and dogs Isabelle and Buddy, Bob and Carol's new greyhound. We also visited with Jeff, Katie and their new baby, Sydney, who is 2 months old and adorable!
We avoided stores and shopping on Friday, but did manage to put up our (sad little pre-lit artificial) Christmas tree after G went to bed. Saturday morning, she came downstairs and saw the tree for the first time. Her eyes widened and she said, "Oh, it's bootiful!" She loves the ornaments - I think most of them are no longer on the tree! Everything is "Christmas" to her - Santa, the tree, lights, etc.
