Fun at COSI with Aunt Kathy

Thursday we met Aunt Kathy in Columbus and spent a fun day at COSI. As we drove out of the parking lot to head home, Georgia said, "That was fun with Kathy."

Valentines

Today we dropped off G's valentines at school. Unfortunately, she will miss the party (she doesn't go to school the days of the parties). It's ok, though - she had 2 Christmas parties! This is what her valentines look like. I figured soon enough she will want the store-bought cards so I might as well be crafty while I still can! The other photo is from today after we came home from school. She worked on a valentine for Big Daddy and really enjoyed gluing the hearts down to constuction paper. Who knew that a glue stick was so entertaining?

Now that's progress!!

G is officially sleeping in her bed! She has gone to sleep (for both naps and nighttime) with virtually zero problems since being moved from the crib to the bed.
In additon, today we have been working on going to the potty and she making very excellent progress! She's been running around all day in a t-shirt and nothing else - that means no diaper! - and has only had 1 accident earlier this morning. Since then, we have had 2 poo-poos and 1 pee pee. Good stuff! Curious George fruit snacks and giant marshmellows seem to be great motivators!

A Big Day For Our Family!!

Update: So far, so good! G went to bed as usual with no problems. She is growing up so fast!

This is a very important day for Georgia – not only did she pee pee in the potty this morning, but she is sleeping in a big-girl bed all by herself for the very first time! Earlier this week, she climbed out of her crib (another first) so we decided it was the right time. Brian spent the morning taking down the crib and reorganizing the room. G is napping right now and went down quite easily. We will see tonight when it is time for bed!

New Quilt

I just finished a new quilt for G. It's smaller than I had originally intended (a bit less than 50-inches squared) but I love the colors in the fabrics. The back is a piece of cotton chenille (which was a true challenge for me! Very slippery!) so it is soft and cozy. Here is a picture of G being her diva self while using it this afternoon. "No pictures!"

*The bottom photo is hazy because the camera was covered in fingerprints. The 1st photo is a more accurate picture of the quilt.

Snowday!

We had a snowday yesterday! We woke up and there was actual snow on the ground. Brian cleared the walk and Georgia played in it for the first time this season. She was quite the little polar bear, throwing herself in the snow with verve! She was quite unhappy when we brought her inside, crying, "I need my snow!"

"I'm a big girl."

That is what Georgia said after she went pee pee & poo poo in the potty for the very first time. The lure of Curious George fruit snacks was too strong for her to resist.

"Mommy...I'm a clown!"

That's right, sweetie. You're a clown.

Happy New Year (almost)!!

Clearly, Georgia plans to celebrate the new year in style. This outfit was her own creation. I think we've created a diva monster!

Happy Holidays!

I just realized that I forgot to post photos from Christmas morning. We had a great morning. Georgia was very excited to open and then play with her gifts. I think her favorite part was the stocking, which we did last because Brian and I nearly forgot about it! She loves her Dora, Boots and Swiper figures, which were in her stocking. She also enjoys the Little People preschool, especially the playground parts of it.

On the Saturday before Christmas, we hosted Granddad, Nana and Matt for brunch and had a great time. Georgia received and watched How The Grinch Stole Christmas, a treat since it was pre-empted by another program this year. Later on Christmas Day, we went over to Aunt Donna's house for Christmas with the extended family. On Tuesday, we went up to Wilmington where Tante and Tony hosted a lunch (jambalaya...yum!) and some more gift-giving. Along with the three of us, Tante & Tony, Grandma & Grandpa, Aunt Kathy, Uncle Danny & Buddy, we celebrated with Tony's parents, Patty & Truman. It was a fun day that capped off a great (but busy) holiday weekend. We all really enjoyed the weekend and were amazed by the generosity of our families. Thank you!!

Last Day of School 2006

Friday was Georgia's last day of school for 2006. She gave each teacher a cookie bag and said, "Merry Christmas, Mrs. Bruce/Fenning!" She also made this ornament for our tree.

So far, we are enjoying a low-key pre-Christmas week, resting up before the busy long weekend.

Santa is a Rock Star

Earlier today, we met the Burgoons and friends at the zoo's Festival of Lights. After a short and only slightly challenging wait in line, Georgia met the big man in person. Her first encounter with Santa was a good one, with no tears or trepidation. This is how their conversation transpired:

Santa: What do you want for Christmas?

Georgia: Presents.

Funny Face

I snapped this picture while G was spinning. Her expression is hilarious to me.

I made this!

This is a felted wool blanket that I worked on this afternoon and it is nearly finished. Last week, I bought seven wool sweaters at the Goodwill (plus one from Brian) and felted them by washing them in very hot water. The blanket is made of 81 squares (6-inches). It is far from perfect but I really do love it. I just need to figure out how to finish the edges. I may just hem it but I do have some extra wool from the sleeves that I could use.

I used this as a guide for the whole project:

A congratulations to us - on Friday, we made the final payment on the Corolla! Now we are keeping our fingers crossed that it lasts FOREVER!
